Speaker Bio

Bethany Martell was the Executive Director of the Office of Clinical Research at the University of Chicago Division of Biological Sciences and University of Chicago Medical Center.  She worked at the University for 19 years with the last 16 in Clinical Research Administration.  Beth began her career there as Section Administrator in the Department of Medicine for the sections of Rheumatology and Infectious Diseases.  During that time, both sections were involved in multiple clinical trials for novel new drugs. Humira, Remicade, and Enbrel were especially novel for rheumatoid arthritis.  This provided Beth the opportunity to develop a thorough understanding of clinical research operations within the clinical setting.  After three years of outpatient clinic management, faculty recruitment and retention, grant oversight, and all day-to-day operations of the sections, she moved to the Office of Clinical Research to focus on the intersection of clinical and clinical research operations.

Beth received her MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business with concentrations in Economics, Strategy, and Managerial & Organization Behavior.
