I am prior Air Force, so traveled quite a bit (we once completed a six-week marathon move from Miami to Fairbanks, Alaska, with two vehicles, two dogs, a baby and a toddler; via stops at numerous tourist sites and in-laws in Georgia, New Jersey, Ohio, and Minnesota – fun times!). I was also stationed in Hawaii and would like to return there, but in 1995 I settled in the Tacoma, WA area. As a civilian, I worked in the telecommunications industry for almost 20 years. In 2010, fortuitously shortly before being laid off from my long-term job, I decided to return to college and complete my degree, dragging my two adult sons with me. I have a BA in Sociology and a master’s in Liberal Studies, while they majored in psychology and history. Online learning is nothing new to my family – my sons completed high school online long ago, and all our college classes were/are online. It should come as no surprise that I like working from home!
