Susan Abramson
Medical Chair
I grew up in Johannesburg South Africa. Graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in 1988, with MBBCh, after which I pursued postgraduate Masters in Family and Community medicine. I practiced clinical medicine as a general practitioner and mentored Family Medicine students. Emigrated with my husband and 3 children to the United States (San Diego) in 2005. Spent a few years acclimating, wrote USMLEs, volunteered at UCSD and assisted in my husband’s dental practice.
Did a course at UCSD extension in Clinical Research Trials that led me to the IRB world. Started at Aspire IRB in 2011 part-time and transitioned full time in 2012 as a medical reviewer (board and expedited). Not sure what year I officially started Chairing meetings.
What I like to do in “free time”: Catch up with my family and friends all over the world, garden, hike, swim in the ocean, travel (before covid) and listen to books/podcasts.
