Katie Ortman Doble is a patient advocate, writer and motivational speaker who inspires through her witty and optimistic outlook as a stage 4, ocular melanoma survivor. Katie has spoken to UCHealth, Colorado Cancer Coalition, American Brain Tumor Association, Patients as Partners, Foundation Medicine, Abbvie and more. She has consulted with organizations like Alkermes, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Immunocore, the FDA, CURE Connections and Astra Zeneca. She is a past recipient of the Courage Award from the Melanoma Research Foundation and the Out Living It Award from First Descents. This past May, a personal essay about her experiences navigating clinical trials was published in HuffPost and last month, Katie was featured on NPR’s “My Unsung Hero” segment. She works as a headhunter in Denver, CO where she lives with her husband, Nick, and their doghter, Alice.
