Bethany Martell, is currently serving as the Vice President for Research Operations and Chief Research Administrator at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Ms. Martell’s 20 plus years of demonstrated successful experience in research administration includes her current responsibilities for research operations and administration for clinical, community, computational and lab-based research. Of particular interest to Beth is the: integration of basic, translational and clinical research with day-to-day clinical activities in the healthcare setting; perspective of the patient/subject and improving inclusivity in clinical research by lowering barriers to participation; fostering a welcoming and inclusive workplace for research staff by focusing on transparency and accountability allowing for greater career satisfaction especially in the competitive Chicago employment market; promoting sound financial management of research funds; and the strategic value of research to the organization.
Prior to joining RUMC, Beth spent the majority of her career at the University of Chicago Medicine and was responsible for the oversite of clinical research including training and education; clinical research compliance program; research billing operations and billing compliance; research infrastructure and systems; and administrative support for the Institutional Review Board.
She received her MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with concentrations in Economics, Strategy, and Managerial & Organizational Behavior.
