This session will present an overview of the FDA’s regulation of Software as a Medical Device (SaMD), including AI/ML-enabled medical devices, and explore unique considerations for inspections of manufacturers of those types of products. In particular, the session will discuss applicable guidance and technical standards and how these can influence the inspection process. Finally, the session will discuss recent FDA enforcement actions and considerations for manufacturers of SaMD and AI/ML-enabled medical devices.
