Dr. Mitchell Katz is Senior Vice President, Global Clinical Operations at Kyowa Kirin. In this position, he is responsible for leading the strategic and operational framework of Kyowa Kirin’s clinical development programs within the Global Development Organization. He provides leadership and oversight of the clinical operations team in North America, the European Union, and Japan. Dr. Katz also ensures operational excellence and continuous improvement of processes in all clinical operations activities.
Dr. Katz has over 25 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, including preclinical and clinical research, pharmaceutical operations, and regulatory affairs. Prior to joining Kyowa Kirin, Inc. he served as Vice President, Development Operations at Ferring Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He also served as Head of Clinical Research and Drug Safety Operations at Purdue Pharma L.P. Dr. Katz has experience working in start-up biotechnology companies, including Acorda Therapeutics, InterMune, Connetics, and NABI. He also held management positions at Eisai, Ortho Biotech and Schering-Plough and participated in seven successful NDA submissions in his professional career.
Dr. Katz holds a B.A. in Biology, a Ph.D. in Microbiology, and served as a postdoctoral research fellow at Downstate Medical Center in NY.
