Challenges and Solutions for Advancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Thursday, May 18, 2023, 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Lack of diversity in clinical trials have significant negative impacts on quality, cost, and patient safety. Many medicines work differently in individuals of varying gender, race, and ethnicity, but often those differences are not discovered until after drug approval. Barriers to diverse populations participating in clinical trials are well documented, but the industry still struggles to overcome them.
This presentation and panel discussion will address barriers to and consequences of lack of diversity in studies, how planning for patient diversity during protocol development is imperative, how we must truly listen to patients and their needs, and how innovative processes and technologies are enabling the industry to take positive steps.
